MINUTES FOR 02/17/10 MEETING

- The meeting was called to order by President Ginny Barr.   Lynn Campbell offered our morning prayer.  Guests were introduced.

- Health and Happiness by Jacqueline Kleynenberg.

- Judy Johnson reminded us of the Pins for Polio to be held on February 27.  Sponsorships still needed.

- Adopt a Highway this Saturday, 02/20, at 8:00 AM at Blount Shepard’s office, 3547 Dreher Shoals Road. 

- Eddie Robinson introduced our speaker – Eddie O’Cain.   Mr. O’Cain is with the Humane Society – Cruelty Investigation Division.  He deals with animal rescues.   His job is to educate animal owners,  seize and prosecute when necessary.  He also sponsors spay and neuter clinics.  Cruelty Investigation Division is a non-profit and runs off donations from the community.  His division receives no government funds.

- After a question and answer period, meeting was adjourned

Meeting Minutes:  February 10, 2010
President Ginny Barr called meeting to order.
Patty Cavanaugh gave the invocation.
John Hanson introduced the two guests,  Mellissa Hulon  & Bob Milhouse
Lyman Whitehead entertained us with his comments on Health and Happiness. He also collected Happy Dollars from members.
Announcements:
-          Update on Bill Kopelman, good test results.
-          Jim Wellman Update on Meals on Wheels.
-          Judy Johnson gave an update on “Pins for Polio” Going well.
-          Irmo ROTC update.  They will be marching for 24 hrs to raise money for the Honor Flight on 4/10
-           Blount Shepard gave an update on Adopt A Highway pickup on Feb. 13 at 8:00am starting at Shepard & Associates.
-          Larry Stohs gave update on Paul Harris Fellow points program to try to have club become 100% PH Fellows.
-          Eddie Robinson updated members with handouts on “Shuckin’ on The Shoal” Feb 28.
-          Ginny Bar gave brief over view about Tour De Lake to be held on April 24, 2010. Had members break out into small groups to discuss ideas and questions with reference to the bike rally.

Minutes of 2-3-10 meeting

President Ginny Barr called the meeting to order.    Barry Johns gave the invocation.    “Health and Happiness” was led by Jacqueline Kleynenberg.   Rotarian Jeanette Coulter and her husband, Jerry will be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this week and Chris Spearman and his wife will also be celebrating their anniversary.   John Lafond, District representative, recognized Ben Herritage for becoming a member of the Bequest Society for his generous donation to the Permanent Fund.  Maria Hargrave gave her classification speech.

  Judy Johnson reminded members of the upcoming “Pins for Polio” tournament scheduled for Saturday, February 27 from 2-5 at Anchor Lanes.  Team sponsors and bowlers are needed and 100% member participation is being requested.  Brochures for the “Tour de Lake” Bicycle rally were distributed along with sponsor forms.  Team leaders of the “tour de Lake” were asked to stay for a meeting immediately following this morning’s meeting.

Representative Nathan Ballentine introduced the guest speaker.  Mary Louise Resch, Government Relations and grant Specialist from Harvest Hope Food Bank gave an excellent presentation.  Her organization serves 20 counties in South Carolina and is the largest Food Bank in SC.  In 2009 the Harvest Hope Food Bank served 725,567 families in need which was a 76% increase since 2008.  This number represented 3,158,487 individuals which was also a 144% increase compared to last year.
