Invocation was given by Lyman Whitehead
Guests included: Fred Splittgerber, George Staples, Sarah Bixler, Rowena Funderburk, Ione Cockrell and District Governor Paula Matthews.
Jim Wellman on behalf of the club and with great "humility" presented Sarah Bixler, the club's scholarship recipient, a check towards her continued studies at CLEMSON UNIVERSITY. Sarah is a fine young lady and the club is honored to support her in her studies and future career. She is a communications major.
Judy Johnson, past president, presented to the club a plaque from the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission for the club's sponsorship of a baseball team in the ICRC baseball league.
Brook Williams, club member, gave a classification talk.
The club was honored to have District Governor Paula Matthews as the speaker of the day. She shared the strategic goals of Rotary for 2011-2012:
1. Strengthened local clubs 2. Give to the Foundation 3. Enhance Rotary's public image.
In addition to challenging the club to maintain its membership, she told of the coming Spring District Conference at Hilton Head in March 23-25, 2012, at the Marriott. The theme will be "Happy Days".
Ione Cockrell, District Chair for the Foundation's permanent fund, presented Rod Funderburk a plaque and pin for becoming a member of The Rotary Foundation Bequest Society. Rod is currently the Assistant Governor for Area Two in the district.
Meeting was closed with President Jeanette Coulter leading the club in reciting the Four Way Test.
