The Lake Murray-Irmo Rotary Club was so pleased to recognise September Student of the Month from Leaphart Elementary, Mikayla Bouknight. Mikayla was chosen for "her service to her peers and great attitude" said Dr. Rebecca McKenzie-Appling, Principal al Leaphart. The club was delighted to present Mikayla with an award for "service above self" the motto for Rotarians and a gift certificate from Sonic the Irmo/Ballentine location who are delighted to reward students making great choices in our community. The Lake Murray-Irmo Rotary is a service organization that meets on Wednesday mornings! Sure, breakfast is important, but that isn't what we're about (even though the food is really quite good). We do good things for great people as we try to make the central Midlands of South Carolina a better place while also fulfilling our commitment to the goals of our great Rotary district and Rotary International.
